On November 20, 2024, the partners of the CARBONICA project, Ag Futura Technologies and the Faculty of Agriculture at the “Goce Delchev” University, successfully carried out planned activities on the experimental fields in the village of Amzabegovo.
As part of the second year of the experiment, barley was sown as an experimental crop. The main goal is to compare the effects of different agricultural practices: conventional and carbon farming practices. On the conventional part, fertilization was carried out using urea (46%). On the fields where carbon farming practices are applied, a biostimulator was applied using a drone. Additionally, barley was planted as a cover crop for sunflower, as part of the carbon farming practices.
As part of the research experiment, soil and yield analyses will be conducted at the end of the vegetation period. The aim is to determine the impact of the applied practices on carbon storage levels, the agronomic characteristics of barley, and the sustainability of production.
These activities are part of the vision of the CARBONICA project to support carbon farming as a solution for sustainable production and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
