FARMTOPIA
Project Overview
Farmtopia is a three-year Horizon Europe project (September 2023 – August 2026) dedicated to democratizing digital farming. It specifically targets small and medium-sized farms, which often struggle to adopt expensive or complex Agricultural Digital Solutions (ADSs).

Key Objectives and Impact
- Affordability: Reducing costs for both farmers and tech providers by creating reusable software modules and innovative business models like “pay-as-you-go”.
- Accessibility: Providing over 64,000 small farms with access to validated digital tools.
- Co-creation: Ensuring digital solutions solve real-world problems by involving farmers directly in the development process.
- Sustainability: Boosting the environmental and economic performance of the agricultural sector through precision farming.
Project Structure
- Partnership: Comprises 22 partners from 12 countries, coordinated by NEUROPUBLIC.
- Sustainable Innovation Pilots (SIPs): The project operates 18 pilots across Europe.– 9 pilots were pre-selected at the start.
– 9 additional pilots were awarded through an Open Call.
- Digital Tools: Includes the Farmtopia Digital Field Book, a tool for logging activities like planting and irrigation, and various microservices for data exchange and benchmarking.
Collaboration
Farmtopia works closely with “sister projects” like QuantiFarm and OpenAgri to share knowledge and strengthen the digital transition in European agriculture. More details and updates are available on the official Farmtopia website.
