Introduction
Nostradamus, in alignment with the Farm to Fork strategy, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the European strategy for data, aims to design, develop, and evaluate a scalable and robust platform. This platform will facilitate the online and real-time harvesting of valuable information from various data sources to support the development of multiple agricultural applications.
Data Handling and Technology Integration
The platform, based on European and four national multidimensional datasets, will employ an automated pipeline for data acquisition, storage, and pre-processing. It will handle both open and commercial satellite datasets while executing several server-side algorithms in (near) real-time for time-series analysis and generating value-added geospatial maps.
Enhancing Agricultural Sustainability
To enhance sustainability performance and competitiveness in the agricultural sector, Nostradamus will create several open-source-based digital applications for farmers. These applications will integrate both edge and cloud solutions, or a combination of the two, leveraging the potential of advanced Internet of Things (IoT) and Earth Observation data. The aim is to provide farmers with actionable insights that will optimize operations and improve yields, while reducing the use of agricultural inputs. This will contribute to boosting EU resilience, independence, and ecological goals for agriculture.
Real-Time Data Collection and Monitoring
By utilizing data from various sources, the platform will enable real-time data collection and analysis. This systematic data update will enhance the monitoring of agricultural practices and strengthen the administrative capacities in the sector.
Multi-Actor Engagement and Collaboration
Nostradamus will adopt a multi-actor approach throughout the project, including workshops, field visits, and training activities. This continuous engagement will involve a variety of stakeholders such as farmers, farm advisors, IT experts, and scientists. This approach ensures that the developed digital solutions reflect the needs and knowledge gaps of different groups, maximizing the deployment potential of these applications.
