On November 14-15, 2023, the Regional Food System Dialogue Event on “Digital Technologies in Sustainable Food Systems” took place at Hotel Holiday Inn in Skopje, North Macedonia. Organized by Cities2030 partners from North Macedonia, including the Green Growth Platform and AgFutura Technologies, the event aimed to explore stakeholder perspectives on the impact of the digital transition on sustainability in food systems. It comprised two round tables and various tech sessions, providing a comprehensive examination of the readiness of the Balkan agri-food sector for technological transition and a comparison of EU and Balkan views on transforming Agri-Food Systems.

The discussions emphasized the importance of aligning solutions with real needs and understanding the socio-economic and behavioral requirements of those involved in the transition. Additionally, tech sessions showcased digital solutions for sustainability, featuring experts from various countries who presented technologies for biomass production, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, soil protection, and human health. An exhibition and synergy session complemented the event, offering a platform to present technology, equipment, innovations, and EU projects.
