AGRO VEDA Leaf Temperature and Wetness Sensor

AGRO VEDA Leaf Temperature and Wetness Sensor

A leaf-shaped sensor with RS485 communication for early detection of moisture on plants.

  • Leaf wetness 0 to 100 %
  • Temperature −40 to +80 °C, ±0.5 °C accuracy
  • Detects dew, fog and frost
  • RS485 output, IP65 protection

Features and applications

Key features

A surface that behaves like a leaf

Tracks changes in the dielectric constant of a leaf-shaped surface.

  • Leaf wetness from 0 to 100 %
  • Leaf temperature measurement
  • Detection of dew, fog and frost
  • Fast response and good repeatability
  • Waterproof sealing

Applications

Where it is used

Suited to crop protection and treatment planning.

  • Plant disease models
  • Early infection warnings
  • Monitoring crop development
  • Spraying and irrigation control
  • Foliar feeding trials
What this product is

Early detection of moisture on plants

The sensor imitates the surface of a natural leaf and tracks changes in its dielectric constant. This lets it register dew, fog, precipitation and frost residue, and the RS485 version measures temperature at the same time.

The technical values apply to the selected RS485 version for integration with the AGRO VEDA station.

Mounting and use recommendations

  • Set the mesh measuring surface at roughly the same angle as the leaves of the surrounding plants.
  • Mount the sensor in a representative part of the canopy, where dew and rain naturally collect.
  • To test spraying or foliar feeding, sensors can be placed at different heights on the plant.
  • Keep the surface free and exposed to the same conditions as the leaves, without direct contact with the structure.
